Dr. Reinhard Krumm, born in Hamburg, Germany, obtained his MA in Russian History from the University of Hamburg and his PhD from Regensburg University, where he has been a lecturer on Russian and Eastern European History since 2007.
He started out as a journalist in the 1990s, working as a freelancer in Russia and throughout the former republics of the Soviet Union, later founding and running the Baltic Office of dpa (German Press Agency) in Riga/Latvia and then serving as a Moscow correspondent for Der Spiegel magazine in Moscow before becoming an editor at Der Spiegel in Hamburg.
Then he joined the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in 2002, serving as the Head of the Regional Central Asian office in Tashkent/Uzbekistan and Head of the Russian office in Moscow and later heading the Department of Central and Eastern Europe at the foundation’s headquarters in Berlin. He is the founder and director of the FES Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe, Vienna, where he has worked since 2016. Reinhard Krumm comments on current political events in the international media and has given lectures in 35 countries.

Dr. Alexandra Dienes (née Vasileva), born in Moscow, got her PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 2017 and her MA in Political Science from the Freie University Berlin in 2012. She specializes in political economy and foreign policy of Russia and the post-Soviet space. At FES ROCPE, Alexandra focuses on economic aspects of regional security and cooperation and coordinates the network of young experts FLEET.
Previously, she taught international relations and political economy at the University of Amsterdam and worked for German political foundations in Georgia and China, the European Parliament in Brussels and the German Development Agency GIZ. She did a documentary film on barriers to regional trade in Central Asia and currently works on another film project. Alexandra is also an affiliated research fellow at the Political Science department of the University of Amsterdam.

Senior Researcher
Simon Weiß, born in Zelinograd (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan). He studied political science and sociology at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg.
Between 2011-2015 he taught international relations and Russian foreign policy and was a research associate at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Heidelberg.
As a research associate and project coordinator at FES ROCPE, he focuses on security and defence policy aspects in the region and on questions of arms control in Europe.

Gloria Sack, born in Grevesmühlen (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Northern Germany), studied business administration at the Freie Universität Berlin with a focus on taxes and accounting.
In July 2019, she started working at FES ROCPE in Vienna. As a very experienced accountant, Gloria Sack is responsible for all matters concerning financial management and controlling.
Previously, she worked for the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Berlin for seven years. Her main tasks were financial management and controlling of several offices in Eastern Central and South Eastern Europe and the EU office of the FES in Brussels. She also was in charge of auditing compliance with regulations and guidelines for the FES.

Born close to Berlin (Germany), she completed business administration with a focus on marketing and accounting at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin.
She started working for the FES with the establishment of FES ROCPE in Vienna 2016. At FES ROCPE she is responsible for the project and office coordination, which includes the logistical preparation and organization of projects and events, the communication with participants and external service providers and basic topics like the FES ROCPE website, graphic and print topics, as well as technical matters. She also assists to the head and the team and helps to facilitate a smooth process at FES ROCPE.
Previously, she already worked in Vienna on a project-related basis in the area of internal communication in the natural gas sector, then worked a few years in the area of external communication for a cultural association.

Johanna Lutz studied Political Science, Public Law, and Intercultural Business Communication in Jena (Germany) and Cairo (Egypt). Prior to her current role heading the new FES regional office on Democracy in the OSCE region, based in Vienna, she was Deputy Head of the FES EU-Office in Brussels (2014-2019) and presided over the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) in Brussels (2018/19).
She has worked for a member of the German Parliament (Bundestag) (2009), and for the SPD-Group in the Regional Parliament (Landtag) of Brandenburg (2010-2012), and early experience includes working for the political magazine Berliner Republik (2009-2012). Having also lived and worked in Brazil from 2001-02, and in 2005, Johanna appreciates and embraces working in an international environment.
Senior Researcher for Democracy and Society
Filip Milačić, born in Podgorica, Montenegro. He has studied political sciences and history of Eastern Europe at the University of Heidelberg and obtained his PhD at Humboldt University. Previosuly, he has worked for the Organization for the Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) as well as at the University of Rijeka, University of Montenegro and in German Bundestag. He was also a columnist of two Montenegrin daily newspapers.

Michael Jennewein, born and raised in Innsbruck (Austria), studied Philosophy & Economics (BA) at University of Bayreuth in Germany and Technology Governance & Digital Transformation (MA) at Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia.
Before joining FES ROCPE, he worked as economist at the Vienna-based think tank Momentum Institut. Early experience include internships at German NGO Lobbycontrol and at the Tyrolean representation at the EU in Brussels. His research interests include inequality, public administration, e-governance and economic policy.
