The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is an independent and non-profit organization, committed to the ideas and fundamental values of social democracy and the labour movement. The new thematic office "Future of Democracy" of the FES Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe is based in Vienna. It will focus on the question of how democracy can be renewed in the entire geographical area of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The office will analyze trends, and develop new concepts and ideas with other institutions and think tanks. These will then be discussed with political decision-makers, experts, and representatives of society. The network of FES offices in the OSCE area gives us the opportunity to conduct an inclusive dialogue on the future of our political system in the entire region. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung functions as a political network and consulting organization for and with the political institutions of the EU, the Council of Europe and the OSCE.
